"Vanished" a Memoir by Frances Read

Introduction

This memoir is the ramblings of an old woman, an amateur and very novice, writer who has been forced by months of Covid19 isolation to take stock. This is a recount of my life, as I recall it. Memories can fade and many dates and locations had to be researched for accuracy but there is nothing here to my knowledge that is exaggerated or false.

I am closer to death than birth, and the reason for writing this was to answer questions my children and grandchildren have asked me over the years, some of which I may not have answered before.

Most importantly I want each of my children to know they were welcomed into this world by both their father and I with utmost love and devotion. A promise that your life would be better than ours…
